Tub Cleaning Tips from a Software Developer

One of the toughest things to clean is the tub. Especially if it hasn’t been clean for a while… … … ok it’s been a year and half. To be fair I tried to clean the tub a couple times, but I could never get it as clean as it was when I moved in.

Each apartment I’ve moved into had immaculate tubs – I knew there had to be a quick way to clean a tub. If a dainty housekeeper can clean a tub in a couple hours, I surely can!

My first attempt was to use a power buffer. It didn’t work very well and I was nervous with an electric power tool in the tub - It’s a disaster waiting to happen.
I tried different products: PineSol (I love the smell), vinegar, Ammonia, Simple Green, Bleach. None of which could bring it back to its original move-in luster.
Finally I did a search on cleaning tubs. I found an obscure article saying to use baking soda. Baking soda ?!?! How is that going to help? Baking soda is a powder. It said to sprinkle on baking soda and wait five minutes. Ok… I sprinkled baking soda and waited 15 minutes. With the help of a hand brush and a little elbow grease I was able to clean the tub to its original condition. Amazing! Who would have thought baking soda was the answer.

Mother of a Loss

You know its coming. Everyone must face it. No one can prepare you for the impact. It’s like a hot cup of coco going cold, like a sun burning out. The warmth, understand and nurturing will never be had again.

She swooped in just at the right moment to save the day. She picked you up when you fell. She kissed your owies and made them better.

In her house around every corner there is a memory. With every item there is a memory. The way the house is organized invokes memories. How the sign sits outside the front day. There is a presence missing. You’re expecting her to come walking around the corner asking who wants a slice of pie. There is an urge to call her number, maybe she will answer.

The Personal Development Paradox

The Big Paradox in Personal Development

The more you can “be with” yourself
the more fulfilled you will become and
the more of service you will be to
 others.

I’m talking about self-realization in
the fullest sense. To realize one’s
true nature, we have to accept reality
as it is, accept ourselves as we are
with all our unfinished goals and
 ambitions.

Two Questions

There are two questions a man must ask himself: “Where am I going?” and “Who will be going with me?”

If you ever get these questions in the wrong order you are in trouble."
